Crossing
Delancey is the story of Isabel, a happy successful Jewish woman,
devoted to her grandmother or "Bubbie," who she visits
regularly in a Lower East Side neighborhood. Her notions of life, love and even herself
are turned upside down when her Bubbie, unimpressed with her granddaughter's
single
lifestyle, enlists the service of Hannah, the matchmaker. Understandably,
Izzy, who is dreaming of a relationship with a sophisticated writer,
recoils
from such an outdated dating service. Her heritage catches up with
her when she meets Sam, the pickle merchant. Neither pickle man
nor novelist is what he seems to be which leaves the question: Can
old-fashioned matchmaking serve the course of modern love?
