invited to perform an excerpt of A Piece of My Heart at 2002 State OCTA Convention
On Saturday,
September 7th The Drama Workshop will be performing an excerpt from
their 2002 winter show A Piece of My Heart as a part of the
2002 OCTA State Conference. The scene featured will be a selection form the second act of the show - showing each character dealing with coming back home from their tour of duty after the Vietnam War. TDW was
chosen at the 2002 Southwest Regional OCTAfest to represent the
region at the state level.
OCTAFest
2002 will be held over Labor Day weekend in Cleveland, Ohio. Shows were
selected from regional OCTAfests around the state in June. Each
excerpt is adjudicated by a panel of three responders. The productions
receive both verbal and written critiques and comments. Awards are
presented for excellence in various categories. Time allowing, workshops
and/or speakers are also usually presented during the event.
OCTA (Ohio
Community Theater Association) is a service organization for more
than 100 community theaters in Ohio and adjacent areas of bordering
states. Since its formation in 1953, it has grown to be one of the
largest and most successful organizations of its kind. With its
funding from the Ohio Arts Council, donations, dues and proceeds
from its many self supporting activities, OCTA provides a growing
